XBeeriment’s #44 Smoked Stout, brewed to celebrate Barack Obama’s inauguration as the 44th President of the United States, is the non-barrel aged beer in the series. A few years back I reviewed the barrel aged edition, which you can read here, and derived much the same experience. However, I have noticed that barrel aging these robust beers seems to bump up the score, (brewers take note). This beer, the regular #44, smells rich and malty, like a good heavy beer, with notes of peat wafting around. Notes that wafted out of the 1/2 inch George Hamilton hue head which rose up and hung out for the rest of the beer. A bitterness also cropped up, which I kinda wish would leave a little sooner. And after about halfway through this beer, the alcohol showed up; such a good guy. Now that the gang is all here, and I can’t concentrate on anything, we just gonna get loud in here. I got my 33s out and found a copy of Apache! Overall smokestacks issued = 4.8 out of 7.

XBeeriment doesn’t have a website, or is still on MySpace.
Amager Bryghus has a website, but they aren’t talking about this beer:
And The Shelton Brothers imported this, along with all the other XBeeriment beers, but they aren’t saying anything either:
