In the tabernacle for the first time ever is J Wakefield Brewing and their offering UJP, which is a smoked English style porter. I have no idea what UJP stands for. The smell of this beer reminds me of beer. If I were blindfolded and smelled this, I would say that it smells like beer, and I would offer no other descriptors. Smoke is faint, and even the best of the ministers in SmokeBeerMinistry would probably miss the smoke scent unless it were pointed out beforehand. This beer definitely tastes like an English-style porter, which are beers that are musty and a little grittier than most beers, and they fare better when they’re sweeter. This beer isn’t so sweet. And at SmokeBeerMinistry, English porters fare better when they’re smokier. And this one isn’t so smoky. I have nothing else to say about JWB or UJP. 3 smokestacks out of 7.
