Found this on tap. I remember having this in a 22oz bomber a few years back, and I liked it enough to have picked up a few more since then. One bottle happens to be in my bunker right now. So finding this on tap for the first time was a pleasant surprise. And the near 10% abv which I had forgotten about was a pleasant surprise as well, so I had two. If you would like a reminder on how that review went back in 2014, check here. And if Left Hand Brewery would like a reminder of how this beer was received, they should check here too, because for some reason, their administrator has expunged this concoction from their website. I had this Smoke Jumper beer on my way to a movie with a friend, and the only thing I can remember about the movie is where it was screened, but the title and any memory about what I saw is gone. I sure remember this beer though. Sweet, not too smoky, booze hidden in the caramel, sugars, and malt flavors, and the price and size of the pour were robust (but not really an attribute of the beer or brewery, but positives for me nonetheless). There’s something in here that makes me think I taste peat, but it’s at just the right mild intensity to convince me to like it. If you can find this beer, buy it and drink it. Overall smokestack rating = 5 smokestacks out of 7.
