Braustelle – Freigeist Pear Abraxxxas Lichtenhainer – 4 out of 7

This review is the 5th and final part of the Freigeist Bierkultur beer reviews, where Eherenfeider, Hoppeditz, Apple, Pear, and regular Lichtenhainer, were all reviewed consecutively…

Good beer, but still of the same cut of wood as the Freigeist Apple beer. Pear? Smoke? I assign these flavors into the traces category, with concerns that someone may challenge me in a blind taste test, and assess my palate’s consistency. But really, concerns about consistency fall onto the brewer, where I am certain that consistently brewing the exact same beer, is an increasing shortfall in the industry. Braustelle may be an industry exception, but consistency is beyond the scope of this beer review site. At SmokeBeerMinistry we hone our profiles to 1) detect smoke, 2) decide if we like it, and 3) bask in whatever state of inebriation we find ourselves in. This pear beer is balanced, tasty, and light (which reflects the true nature of a lichtenhainer). Any flavors other than good beer flavor are so faint they lack worth mentioning. Still good though. Overall quality metric measured in smokestacks = 4 smokestacks.
