This is a well made beer as we have come to expect from this team. Everything they do is for sophisticates like us and Rauchpils is in line with that. Rauchpils is skunky. A nice foamy white fluffy head emits curious aromas and smoke is one of the main components. Mikkeller doesn’t play coy and their efforts are noticed in this interesting combination of the yin and the yang. Pilsners can often present a lighter and less distinct taste; Miller Light claims to be ‘A True Pilsner’ and thankfully, this isn’t one of those kinds of pilsners. This is a robust, skunky, smoky, flavorfull, and interesting beer. An unusual Overall Happiness factor of 4.1 smokestacks.
