Schlafly – Raspberry Chipotle Brown Ale – 3.2 out of 7 Smokestacks

IMG_20191011_203755-2.jpg

St. Louis’s well liked brewery Schlafly brewed this experimental Raspberry Chipotle Brown Ale that didn’t do too well, too bad. And it started off great with smoke on the nose right upon opening it, but then when I poured it into a glass and a frigging foam monster emerged. I fought it back and was able to give myself a decent pour after a sec. Then I tasted it and got peculiar peat flavors. I guess raspberries and smoked jalapeno peppers (chipotle peppers) combine to form a flavor that is less becoming. And while I begin to grow accustomed to these earthy, musty beer flavors, I notice the heat. spicy heat, picante, no caliente, The spiciness helped the score out a smidge, but overall, this beer ain’t my cup of tea (or suchong). Final score = 3.2 Smokestacks out of a total possible score of 7 Smokestacks.
