Little Fish Brewery of Athens, Ohio has a good number of smoked beers to choose from. On this day SmokeBeerMinistry made it out to Ohio and got to test out Enginuity, a 5.8% abv smoked porter and it was a dud. I didn’t like it. It was too bitter, musty, the maltiness tasted funny, it had a unappealing dryness to it, and there was virtually no smoke. Then Little Fish retired this beer. How lucky Enginuity was to be served at 101 Beer Kitchen, I really like this place. I am interested in visiting this brewery however, in the hopes of discovering that this was just some kind of one-off situation. Here’s to hope. 2 smokestacks out of 7.

Brewer’s Description | This porter, brewed with house-smoked malts, is a tribute to the freight train line that runs right on the edge of our property. We brew this coal-black ale with Ohio-grown barley, smoked in our custom smoker, with a mix of local hardwoods (cherry, chestnut oak, and applewood). If you are a fan of smoked beers, seek this one out! |
