You can’t get this one anymore, these guys went under. This is the second time that SmokeBeerMinistry has reviewed a beer after the brewery has closed down which is both an indication of our backlog of beers to review, which keeps growing, and an indication of how finicky the beer industry can be. But from what we understand, there is plenty of room for growth in just about every corner of the US, and most of the western world too (apologies for SBM’s ignorance on beer culture beyond that horizon).
Pretty Things Beer & Ale Project made this beer, FUMAPAPA in May of 2015 . This is a good beer; sweet, malty, slightly ashy, a little musty, and rich. The 12% abv is completely hidden in all the rich flavors. FUMAPAPA pours like Hershey’s syrup and looks like it too. And maybe because of its consistency, notes of chocolate were found wafting around. This is an adults beer that will soon find its way into a barrel I suspect, assuming that the recipe is out and about. About half way though and you discover the alcohol, but by means of inebriation and not taste. Great beer flavors in here, but could use more smoke. This is a pretty good beer. Overall score = a respectable 5.5 smokestacks out of 7.
