Not much to report about on this one (unless you want to hear about vanity in Boulder, CO brew pubs… It was like a fashion magazine in there). This beer was light on every front. Without a touch of smoke, there’s not much sense in calling it a gratzer. The sour is there, giving this beer something to set it apart from hoards of flavorless, non offensive beers out there today. It’s easy to make a beer that the uninitiated will like, just keep it bland and devoid of anything that someone might raise an eyebrow at and you will avoid ruffling any feathers. This beer goes one step above that by calling it a gratzer (which is not recognized by the masses) and by putting a few sour notes in the formula (alerting rubes that this beer is different from C00rs Light), both may incite fear in these unsophisticated palates. For that effort FATE’s Gratzer Ale earns a total of 2 points. Sorry FATE, get bold.
