Matten – La Schwortz Biere noire Stout – 3 Smokestacks (out of 7)

image

Whoa. Ashy. Darkness. Smells like smoke (2 out of 7 smokestacks in smokepower). Carbonated. Makes me burpy. Heavy carbonated. Big bubbles on the George Hamilton head = more burps. Notice the label got all wrinkly because it went on a long, crazy trip for a week in a cooler where it didn’t get opened. So anyway, its got a musty, malty, ashy taste. Could the pound of pistachios I just ate be adding to the carbonation? As soon as this beer hits my teeth, whoom! Carbonation! I brought this one back from France… maybe its available in the US, I don’t know. This beer had a clear runway and kinda crashed. On the bright side, no silt = a good thing. The second half of this beer was better than the first half. Overall Happiness = 3 Smokestacks.
